Features

Everything a reader needs. Nothing it doesn't.

  • Continuous reading

Chapters load as you scroll — no “Next chapter” button, no waiting between pages.

  • Plugin repositories

Add any LNReader-compatible repository by URL. Extensions are downloaded only when you install them.

  • Offline downloads

Download single chapters or bulk-select them, then read with no connection at all.

  • Per-chapter progress

Scroll position and read status are stored per chapter, so you always resume exactly where you stopped.

  • Library management

Track every novel you follow in one place, with unread badges and progress at a glance.

  • Search

Find a novel across your installed sources without leaving the library.

Downloads

Built for libraries with hundreds of chapters.

Downloads now run as a proper background job — queued, processed in sequence, and persisted even while Honya isn't in the foreground.

Download Manager

See every active and queued download in one place. Track progress in real time, pause or cancel individual chapters, and manage large batches without losing track of what's left.

  • Active and queued downloads at a glance
  • Pause and cancel anytime
  • Built for large batches of chapters
  • Stays in sync with your library

Notifications

Download progress, library update results and other background activity surface right in Android's notification shade.

Library updates

Update your whole library automatically or trigger a manual refresh — with clear progress even on large libraries.

History

History joins Library, Updates and Catalogs in the main navigation, so returning to a recent chapter is one tap away.

Chapter management

Long-press to multi-select, Select All or Select All Except This Chapter, then bulk download or mark — with filtering, sorting and display options that persist.

Chapter lists, filtering and read/download syncing are noticeably smoother, even in large libraries.

Extensions

One reader. Your own sources.

Honya does not scrape websites itself and ships with no default repositories. Instead it runs LNReader-compatible plugins — you paste a repository URL, pick the extensions you want, and the reader stays independent of any single website.

  • Add any number of repositories by URL
  • Extensions are fetched only when you tap Install
  • Android: plugin code runs sandboxed with shadowed globals
  • Windows: plugins run without isolation in this version, so only install sources you trust
  • Standard plugin API: popular, latest, search, novel, chapter

Honya uses the LNReader extension ecosystem. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by LNReader.

Right-to-left layout

Selecting Arabic switches the whole app to an RTL layout. The direction of novel content is handled separately, so a chapter always reads the way it was written.

Open source

Built in the open.

Honya is developed publicly by TheDeadShadow47 and released under the MIT license. The Android app is built with React Native and Expo — recently modernized to Expo SDK 57 — stores everything locally in SQLite, and has no backend of its own. Honya Desktop for Windows is built with Electron and React and keeps your library in a local SQLite database.

Convenience

Updates without the detour.

Honya checks for newer releases, lets you know when one is available, and downloads the new APK from inside the app with visible progress — ready to install directly on Android.
